Doug Ricks Announcement Press Release

REXBURG, ID ——— Brigham Young University-Idaho employee and Madison County Republican Party Chairman, Doug Ricks announced his candidacy for Representative of District 34, Seat A against the incumbent Ron Nate in the Republican Primary.

From the Madison County Courthouse Commissioner’s room, Doug Ricks announced his candidacy. “I love the people of East Idaho and the surroundings we enjoy. This is a great place to live and raise a family,” said Ricks during his announcement speech. “Because of this and my desire to serve my community, I am formally announcing my candidacy for Idaho House of Representatives District 34, Seat A.” During his announcement speech, Ricks identified three primary areas his campaign is focused on.

The first area of focus is the Economy. Afterwards, Ricks told supporters, “Currently the economy is good and everyone is feeling optimistic about things, but we can do better. It is time to focus on ways for Government and Private Business to work together in new and innovative ways. We need to find ways to create a business-friendly environment that is inviting to new businesses.”

The second focus area is Education. Ricks’ stance on education has been consistent throughout the years. “As an educator, I understand the difficulties today’s teachers face. If elected, I will work to support our teachers and improve the quality of education our students receive.”

The final focus point of the campaign will be accurately representing the needs of our community. “The main responsibility of any elected official is to put the needs of their constituents first,” said Ricks as he left the courthouse. “As a local party leader, I understand the needs of our region and the relationships necessary to get things done.”
